‘The most perfect horrific thing’ ever? Look inside this California home for sale

Screen grab from Zillow

On the outside, this beautiful custom-built home is a conversation starter with its A-line roof and high windows. But the inside of the Porterville, California, house is a different story altogether.

At least according to a popular real estate social media page.

The five-bedroom, four-bathroom residence, which is listed for $825,000, has a very unique style reminiscent of the year it was built — 1978 — thanks to random, sunken parts of the home.

Per the photos on Zillow.com, the interior has hardwood floors, tile, shag carpeting and parts of the residence are randomly sunken, like the primary bedroom and the bathtub in the primary bathroom.

Of course, there are other features that stand out including:

  • Built-in oak cabinets

  • Wood beams

  • Space

  • Brick fireplace

  • Wet bar

  • Enclosed patio area

  • Spacious backyard

  • Pool

  • Jacuzzi

  • “Pool room with an additional ¾ bath”

The floorplan nabbed the attention of Zillow Gone Wild, a Facebook page and Twitter account that highlights special houses for sale all across the country. And folks were split on the style.

“This house needs A LOT of cosmetic remodeling but I absolutely love it! It could be so cool looking with it redone!” one person said.

“I’m amazed how many people are saying it needs updating,” another noted. “I don’t think I’d change anything except the fake plants and maybe the carpet depending on it’s condition. This house is incredible.”

“Nothing in here is what I’d pick. But if this house was suddenly given to me, I’d buy muumuus, embrace the crazy, change nothing, and have fabulous parties,” someone commented.

“This is the most perfect horrific thing I’ve ever seen. I love it!” one person gushed.

“I’m too clumsy for this house. I would trip at least five times a day, and twice a night just waking up to pee. It’s really cool though,” another said.

I would like random sections of my house to just be sunken without rhyme or reason. I think it’d encourage socializing,” someone tweeted.

Wait I like this,” one person said.

Porterville is about 70 miles southeast of Fresno.
