More restaurants proposed for Walmart shopping center in Freehold Township
FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP - Freehold Marketplace proposes to bring more restaurants, including one with a drive-thru window, to the Walmart-anchored shopping center on West Main Street, also known as Route 537.
The township Planning Board is set to hear a proposal by Site Center to build a 10,472-square-foot retail building in a wooded area adjacent to Olive Garden.
The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. July 18.
The proposed building would have a four tenants: a fast-casual restaurant, a fast-casual Mexican restaurant, a fast-casual salad restaurant with a drive-thru restaurant and another retail tenant, according to documents on file at town hall. Specific tenants are not mentioned in the documents.

"The site will operate as commercial use for fast-casual restaurants and retail facility," the applicant wrote in an operations statement. "This outparcel is currently vacant land, which is part of Freehold Marketplace."
The proposal will require various exceptions to the township's zoning regulations that cover the number and design of signs, documents state.
