CHIPPEWA COUNTY — Chippewa County drivers will have to detour around another M-48 construction project starting this week.

The $1.6 million project will see a stretch of eight miles of M-48 just east of M-129 be reconstructed. The project will include repairing shoulders, guardrails and reapplying pavement markings as well as overlaying the asphalt with a fresh layer.

This stretch of road will be the third active construction project on M-48, but will not cause any major detours. Drivers will be able to use the road uninterrupted, but will have to cross over one lane of alternating traffic for the eight miles of construction.

A 10-foot lane width restriction will be in place for cars passing through the lane.

The project begins on Friday and is expected to continue until July 31.
