More felony charges filed against ex-Abington cop, school resource officer

Montgomery County authorities have filed additional felony sex charges against a former Abington police officer who is awaiting trial on similar charges involving a 17-year-old high school student.

County detectives filed five counts of criminal attempted sexual intercourse with a student against Jordan David Jones, 30, of Horsham, who worked as a school resource officer at Abington High School.

The incident took place in May 2023, but no additional details of the new charges were immediately available on Friday.

Abington Police Chief Patrick Molloy said that Jones resigned from the police force two days after he was charged in February with engaging in sexual contact with an Abington senior.

Jones is awaiting trial in Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas on the earlier felony charges of institutional sexual assault, endangering the welfare of children and corruption of minors. He is free on unsecured bail.

Montgomery County Detectives in the earlier case allege the student disclosed to a school counselor earlier this year that she had been having a sexual relationship with Jones since November.

The counselor reported the alleged assault to Abington Township Police, which opened an investigation and then turned it over to the county detectives because Jones was a full-time police officer.

Posts on the Facebook page for the Abington Police Department indicate Jones was hired in 2017 and he was assigned as SRO at Abington High School three years ago.

Jones' attorney, Jessica Consuela Mann, did not immediately return a call Friday seeking comment.
