More Details Emerges From Cowboys’ Final Play Decision
Just a few days ago, the Dallas Cowboys lost in heart-breaking fashion to the San Francisco 49ers.
Trailing 23-17 with less than a minute left on the clock, it seemed like the Cowboys might have a chance to punch the ball into the endzone. With just 13 seconds left on the clock, Dallas made a fatal mistake.
The team opted to run a quarterback keeper with Dak Prescott. After sliding down with just over five seconds left on the clock, Prescott did not allow enough time for the officials to reset the ball.
As a result, the clock ran out and the Cowboys lost. In the days that followed, more details have emerged from the controversial play call.
According to head coach Mike McCarthy, the team had two plays called – a running play with Prescott and a passing play. The quarterback reportedly opted into the run play, which McCarthy said was the right call.
Mike McCarthy said the threshold to run either a draw or quick throw was :13 seconds. Dak Prescott checked out of the throw to a draw. McCarthy said it was the right call. MM said Prescott did the right thing by handing the ball to his center.

McCarthy also said Prescott did the correct thing by handing the ball to his center, instead of the ref.
If Prescott had slid a few yards earlier, the Cowboys likely would have had another shot at scoring a touchdown. However, he didn’t and Dallas ended up losing in the playoffs yet again.
