More than 1,000 lose power on Cape overnight. Here's what happened.

More than 1,000 Eversource customers on Cape Codlost power early Thursday as a storm blew through New England, primarily from the Upper to Mid-Cape.

According to power outage numbers reported for Barnstable County, the height of outages — 1,512 — occurred about 4 a.m.

The two largest outages were in Falmouth and Hyannis, according to Eversource.

"Close to 600 customers in each town lost power," said Eversource spokesperson Priscilla Ress in an email Thursday afternoon.

She cited high early morning winds toppling trees onto power lines as the cause.

As of 1 p.m., she said, almost all customers on Cape had power restored. Customers can stay up to date about outages and Eversource's response activities by viewing the outage map on the website at www.eversource.com/content/residential/outages
