Montclair police looking for a suspect in May 10 shooting that left two men injured

Montclair police are searching for a suspect in a Friday shooting that left two men with gunshot wounds.

Police said that a 43-year-old East Orange man and a 32-year-old Montclair man were found with lower body gunshot wounds in the area of Mission Street and Bloomfield Avenue after they received a call at 5:49 p.m., according to a news release from the police department.

The East Orange man had gunshot wounds on his right hip, thigh and calf; the Montclair man was shot in his left calf. Both men were treated on the scene and taken to University Hospital's trauma center in Newark.

Witnesses told police they saw a gray or silver minivan in the area before the shooting. Police believe the shooter was inside the minivan. The preliminary investigation suggests the minivan fled north on Mission Street before heading east on Bloomfield Avenue, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Joseph Juliano at 973-509-4724 or the Montclair Police Department at 973-744-1234 and ask to speak with a member of the Detective Bureau.
