Monday's MetroWest and Milford-area Fantastic Five athletes shined in the sunny weather

Sun's out, big guns out. These Fantastic Five MetroWest and Milford-area high school athletes showed up when the temperature went up Monday.

They helped claim the top spots in power rankings, poured in the goals and struck out their competition.

Without further ado, May 6th's MetroWest and Milford-area Fantastic Five high school athletes:

BRANCH BARNES, Natick boys volleyball

He put down eight of his 17 kills in the first set of a 3-0 win over Milford. Natick's Harrison Landry added 24 assists and two kills in the 27-25, 25-16, 25-20 victory for the Redhawks (10-1).

TEDDY FERRUCCI, Natick baseball

He threw all eight innings in a 3-2, extra-innings upset win over Braintree. Ferrucci allowed just one earned run, three hits and two walks with four strikeouts. Cam Gobeille had two hits with an and scored the winning run for the Redhawks on a wild pitch. Natick's Luke Dougherty (RBI) and Robert Farr had two hits each.

LIAM GREGG, Lincoln-Sudbury baseball

The freshman punched out 14 batters in a shutout, as the Warriors beat Wayland 1-0. He allowed just four hits. L-S' Garrett Mahoney drove in the winning run in the fourth inning with a sacrifice fly and singled. Cooper Tarantino had a hit and scored a run for L-S (10-3, 5-1 Dual County).

GAVIN SHIPOS, Medway boys lacrosse

He poured in seven goals with an assist in a 13-4 win over Norwood. Drew McCarthy won 12 faceoffs, while Zach Arnpriester picked up seven ground balls for the Mustangs (6-5, 5-5 Tri-Valley League). Medway goalie Will Parella stopped 10 shots.

WESTBOROUGH GIRLS TENNIS DOUBLES TEAMS

They gutted out tight matches to help the Rangers best Shrewsbury 4-1 and retain their spot atop the Division 2 power rankings. Elena Chen and Sahasra Kommineni survived three sets against Riddhi Gulati and Amna Siddiqui 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles. Westborough's No. 2 pair of Ella Glasgow and Nicole Nguyen gutted out a  7-6 (4), 7-6 (11) victory over Nidhi Vidyaprakash and Mai An Nguyen. Rangers No. 2 Diya Bhattacharya won 6-1, 6-2 against Anna Wang, while Isabel Feldman betsed Arpan Chhabra 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3.

Baseball

BLACKSTONE VALLEY 11, Assabet 2: David Garabedian, Corey Magill (double) and Alex Vosburgh each had two hits and drove in two runs for the Beavers (10-3, 4-2 Colonial). Jake Sweeney and Shamus Pulsifier drove in runs for Assabet (2-7, 1-3).

DOVER-SHERBORN 6, Norton 4: Jackson Shusda drove in three runs on two hits for the Raiders (8-7, 6-5 TVL). He also pitched 4 2/3 innings.

WELLESLEY 6, Needham 2: Max Paladino had two RBIs for the Raiders (8-4, 5-3 Bay State Conference). Wellesley's Anders Snow threw three innings of one-hit ball to earn the win in relief.

NORTH MIDDLESEX 3, Hudson 0: Anthony Moura threw seven innings and allowed six hits and two earned runs for the Hawks (6-8).

FRANKLIN 6, Stoughton 2:Henry DiGiorgio tripled and drove in three runs, walking twice for the Panthers. Dom Caccaveli (two runs), Sean Kryzak (run) and Lukas Phillip (double) each had two hits. Franklin's Rex Cinelli each singled with an RBI and scored a run. Kryzak earned the win in relief. Austin Campbell struck out six in 4 2/3 innings, allowing just two hits and two runs.

HOPKINTON 1, Oakmont 0: Charlie Petruney drove in the winning run for the Hillers in the fifth inning. Hopkinton's Sean McCann singled and scored a run. Andrew Reisenberger threw four innings without allowing a hit, while Derek Hatherly had one inning of hitless relief and Jack Arthur struck out two over two innings and allowed just one hit.

BISHOP FEEHAN 6, Holliston 0: Teddy Peters had two hits for the Panthers, while Brogan Roche, Albert Savino and Jake Schoenbeg each singled once.

BLACKSTONE-MILLVILLE 7, Nipmuc 6: Josh Giancola doubled and drove in two for the Warriors (7-5, 4-2 Dual Valley), who rallied for three runs in the bottom of the sixth.

HOPEDALE 8, SUTTON 4: Alex Lannibois and Brayden Lewis (double) each had two hits and drove in a run, while Evan McCall drove in two for the Blue Raiders (10-3, 6-0 Dual Valley Conference).

SHEPHERD HILL 5, Marlborough 4:  Ryan Dillon was 4-for-4 with a double to lead the Panthers (6-7, 3-5 Mid-Wach B). Marlborough's Dylan Romano added two hits and an RBI, while Dominic Miele Doubled, scored a run and stole a base.

WEYMOUTH 6, Framingham 2: Lucas Messer (double) and Robby White each had a hit and scored a run for the Flyers. Framingham's Michael Chagnon singled and drove in a run.

Softball

URSULINE ACADEMY 2, Bellingham 1 (12): Jacobi Houston threw all 12 innings and struck out 17 batters and didn't issue a walk for the Blackhawks (4-9). Bellingham's Cassidy Leger singled and stole a base while making two put outs.

LINCOLN-SUDBURY 16, Wayland 2 (5): Lia Mazzocchi struck out six and allowed just six hits over five innings for L-S. She also had two RBIs, as did Ashleigh Lent and Kelsey Blanchette.

NORTON 1, Millis 0: Riley Caulfield allowed just three hits for Millis.

AMSA 8, Monty Tech 0: Ava McLeod struck out seven and turned in a three-hit shutout and Abigail Asman (2-for-3, two RBIs), Madelyn Glynn (3-for-3, three RBIs) and Brooke Laudate (2-for-3) all homered for the Eagles.

BLACKSTONE VALLEY TECH 9, Assabet 6: Lyndsey Kay had two hits, including her seventh homer of the season, Arihana Mercado had two hits, including a 2-run homer, and Addy Snow went 3 for 3 to boost the Beavers (5-6, 4-2 Colonial). Mia Gonzalez smacked 2 hits for the Aztecs (1-7, 0-4) and Salamone hit a triple.

NIPMUC 22, Blackstone-Millville 1: Janelle Scirocco was 3-for-4 with two doubles and six RBIs and Sera DeBaggis added three hits, including a double, and four RBIs for the Warriors (12-1, 7-1 Dual Valley Conference). Drynn DiAnni singled twice and drove in three runs for Nipmuc, which amassed 16 hits. Ella Calvey gave up one run on two hits while fanning eight over six innings for the Warriors.

HOPEDALE 14, Sutton 0: Lizzie Brytowski (double) and Kelsey Evans (triple) each had two hits and drove in two runs to lead a 13-hit attack for the Blue Raiders (11-1, 7-0 DVC).

SHEPHERD HILL 13, Marlborough 2: Catherine Seay had two hits and an RBI for the Panthers (6-5, 4-4 Mid-Wach B).

NORTH MIDDLESEX 13, Algonquin 5: Gianna Esposito had a single and two RBIs for the Titans (4-8, 3-7 Mid-Wach B) and Delaney Walker singled and scored twice.

WELLESLEY 13, Needham 4: Olivia Ackerman, Mia Hasselback and Elizabeth McDonnel contributed three hits each for the Raiders (8-5).

Boys lacrosse

HOLLISTON 13, Bellingham 6: Ryan Austin scored five times, while Brady Carroll added four assists for the Blackhawks (3-9, 1-7 TVL). Bellingham's Jack Baker won 16 face offs.

AMSA 11, Bay Path 1: Tavin Hirsh had six goals and one assist, and Luc Masse collected four goals and four assists for the Eagles (10-1, 4-0 Colonial).

Girls lacrosse

TRI-COUNTY 10, Old Colony 7: Addisen Trella scored two goals with two assists and won nine draw controls for the Cougars (3-7).

AMSA 19, Bay Path 2: Clare Jackson, Maeve Powers and Jillian Gowaski each recorded five points each for the Eagles (9-2, 4-0 Colonial).

GRAFTON 18, Hopedale 4: Emma Gosselin had two goals for the Blue Raiders (2-5, 2-5 Mid-Mass.).

Boys volleyball

KEEFE TECH 3, Bay Path 0: Bryan Costa 11 kills and five aces, C.J. Sok four digs and eight kills, Logan Greenlaw seven kills and three aces as the Broncos (13-1, 8-0 Colonial) swept 25-16, 25-15, 25-12.

Boys tennis

WESTBOROUGH 5, Shrewsbury 0: Brendan Estephan and Michael Ku put away Pranav Bonthu and Arjun Kataria 6-2, (7-6 (9-7) at No. 1 singles for the Rangers (9-0). WEstborough's No. 2 doubles squad of Jorge Garcia Gonzalez and Tyler Lattanzio defeated Farhan Hussein and Sampath Katnalv 6-3, 7-5. Jordan Hlawek handled ANy Arvind 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3 singles. Kaden Chen beat Tyson Dang 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1, and Srinjoy Ghosh prevailed 6-2, 6-1 over Krish Gupta.

Girls tennis

ALGONQUIN 4, Nashoba 1: The Titans' No. 1 doubles team of Claire Wallace and Becca White led the charge with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Audrey Russell and Lily Robinson. Sophie Kopstein and Riya Mahanta survived a 7-5, 6-4 battle at No. 2 singles with Emily Skaar and Sadie Gorr for Algonquin (6-4). At no. 2 singles, Siyona Bhagwat won 6-3, 6-1 against Grace Hanley, while Siya Arde beat JJ Brand 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3.

WACHUSETT 4, Marlborough 1: Maurya Virmani earned a point at No. 1 singles for the Panthers (6-4, 4-4 Mid-Wach A) when she beat Dylan Chien 6-1, 6-2.

HUDSON 5, Fitchburg 0; HUDSON 5, Fitchburg 0: The Hawks (10-3, 7-2 Mid-Wach B) swept a pro set doubleheader. Vivian Weatherbee swept Kennis Rotasayne 8-0, 8-0 at no. 3 singles, while Hudson's NO. 1 doubles team of Lauren Shurling and Gracie Garcie won 8-0. 8-0 against Brittany Estrada and Peyton LaVigueur.

GROTON-DUNSTABLE 4, Marlborough 1; GROTON-DUNSTABLE 4, Marlborough 1: The Panthers' No. 1 doubles team of Lilly Murphy and Emmaline Bowles earned points in both matches by beating Gabby Norris and Ashley Christianson 8-2, 8-2.

WELLESLEY 3, Needham 2:Twins Shea and Shannon Welburn earned a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles for the Raiders (9-1). Kimmy Tai prevailed 6-1, 6-1 a No. 1 singles, while Sarah Mackey won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 2.
