Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Sneak Peek: Curious Scientist Fails to Not Disturb MUTO Eggs, Great Peril Ensues

A curious scientist fails to follow the cardinal rule of “Do Not Disturb the Eggs of Ominous Origin” in a spine-tingling sneak peek from Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, which itself hatches this Friday on Apple TV+.

Developed by Chris Black (SeveranceStar Trek: Enterprise) and Matt Fraction (whose Hawkeye comics heavily influenced the Disney+ series of the same name), Monarch: LoM is set after the battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco and confirmed that monsters are real, in the 2014 Godzilla film.

The 10-episode season tracks two timelines — one in which half-siblings Cate and Kentaro (played by Anna Sawai and Ren Watabe) follow in their shared father’s footsteps to uncover his connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch. (In the Monsterverse, Monarch was founded as a joint effort between multiple governments to hunt and study “massive unidentified terrestrial organisms” aka MUTOs.)

The second timeline takes place back in the 1950s, where researchers Dr. Keiko Mura (Mari Yamamoto) and Bill Randa (Anders Holm), accompanied by army lieutenant Lee Shaw (portrayed Kurt Russell), endeavor to uncover more of Skull Island’s secrets.

In the clip above, Keiko, Bill and Lee stumble upon a nest of unhatched eggs, and make the very bad mistake of not stepping carefully enough whilst trying to extract a tissue sample…. Press play to watch the monstrous mayhem than follows!

The Monarch: Legacy of Monsters cast also includes Kiersey Clemons, Joe Tippett and Elisa Lasowski.
