The Los Angeles Dodgers have announced that Mookie Betts will return to the lineup on Sunday – in pretty surprising fashion.

Betts, a five-time Gold Glove outfielder, will be playing second base for the Dodgers on Sunday against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Dodgers have announced their lineup for Sunday’s game, with Betts leading off and playing in the infield.

Betts has played some infield before, but the vast majority of his Major League Baseball career has come in the outfield.

However, Betts has battled some lower-body injuries as of late. The Dodgers are reportedly hoping that a move to second base – at least once in a while – could help lessen his physical load.

“Move has been contemplated for a while. Team hoping less wear and tear on Mookie’s body,” Dodgers reporter Mike DiGiovanna tweeted.

This will be the third time that Betts plays second base for the Dodgers. Coincidentally, all three times have come against the Diamondbacks.

Dodgers fans are excited to see what Betts is like in the infield today.

It’s been a big week for the Dodgers, who traded for All-Star shortstop Trea Turner and Cy Young winner Max Scherzer.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts will have plenty of lineup options moving forward.
