The Houston Astros are rumored to be among the most active teams on the market heading into the trade deadline later this month.

Houston has been one of the top teams in the American League this season. The Astros are 56-38 on the season, 3.5 games up on the Oakland A’s in the AL West.

The 2017 World Series champions are reportedly looking to make a big move heading into the trade deadline.

According to reports, the Astros have interest in Washington Nationals ace Max Scherzer.

The question, though, is does Max Scherzer have interest in a trade to Houston? The future Hall of Famer has 10 & 5 rights, meaning he can reject any trade. He’s in the final year of a seven-year contract with the Nationals. Washington has struggled this season, but is only six games out in the NL East.

It seems unlikely that Scherzer will approve of a trade out of Washington.

Scherzer is not the only big name the Astros are after, though.

Houston has also reportedly checked in on outfielder Starling Marte. The Marlins center fielder is hitting .290 on the season with an .840 OPS.

The Astros are one of several teams to show interest in Marte, though.

The Astros will likely be very active heading into the trade deadline, in one way or another.

The 2021 MLB trade deadline is scheduled for July 30.
