Missouri man accused of shooting wife, two children days after divorce filing

A Missouri man accused of fatally shooting his wife and her two children before fleeing with his young daughter was reportedly found dead early Friday morning.

Authorities in St. Louis on Thursday found the bodies of a 34-year-old woman alongside her her 13-year-old son and 6-year-old daughter inside a home just after midnight. The gruesome discovery triggered an intense search effort for the victim’s 35-year-old husband, Bobby McCulley III, who was not the younger victims’ biological father, according to the St. Louis Dispatch.

On Feb. 28, McCulley reportedly filed for from divorce from the woman he’s accused of killing. Her name has not been released.

Authorities said the suspect also absconded with the 1-year-old girl he shared with his estranged wife. An Amber Alert was issued but canceled just hours later after the infant was found “safe and unharmed with alternate family members,” the Missouri State Highway Patrol wrote in a Facebook post early Friday.

Multiple police sources confirmed to KDSK that officers were closing in on McCulley when he fatally shot himself inside a vehicle parked in the city’s Old North St. Louis neighborhood. The suspect also reportedly had a history of domestic violence.

He pleaded guilty in 2008 and was sentenced to probation for misdemeanor counts of false imprisonment, tampering with a victim/witness and third-degree assault, according to the news station.

In 2015, a former wife filed for divorce from McCulley — the same year an order of protection was also filed against him.

Anyone with information about McCulley is urged to call the St. Louis County Police Department at 636-529-8210.
