Missouri cops warn people about the Joker’s car in ‘Batman’ alert mishap

Missouri residents were warned to look out for the Joker’s car from the 1989 “Batman” movie after the Missouri Highway Patrol mistakenly sent a test alert Tuesday.

An emergency alert was sent warning people about a “PURPLE/GREEN 1978 DODGE 3700 GT,” with license plate “UKIDME” around “GOTHAM CITY MO.”

That’s the exact description of the car driven by the Joker’s goons in the Tim Burton-directed “Batman” starring Jack Nicholson as the clown prince of crime. There is no “Gotham City, Missouri.”

“So you’re telling me that the Joker’s car from 1989′s cinematic masterpiece ‘Batman’ is currently terrorizing Gotham city, Missouri,” one person who received the alert joked on Twitter.

For anyone truly concerned about the cartoon threat, Missouri Highway Patrol quickly confirmed the alert was a test gone wrong.

“A routine test of Missouri’s Blue Alert system was inadvertently sent to wireless devices statewide,” MHP said in a press release. “During the test, an option was incorrectly selected, allowing the message to be disseminated to the public. There is no Emergency Alert at this time.”

Time to turn the Bat Signal off.
