Missouri basketball transfer portal tracker: Who is joining, leaving Tigers?

The door has started to revolve.

Three Missouri basketball players from the Tigers’ calamitous 2023-24 season, which saw MU lose all 19 games it played against Southeastern Conference teams, reportedly entered the transfer portal within a couple of days of its Monday, March 18, opening.

The Tribune confirmed that center Mabor Majak and guard Curt Lewis have entered the portal, and is waiting for confirmation on guard Jesus Carralero Martin, who PowerMizzou reported intends to transfer.

On Day 2 of basketball’s transfer window, Missouri secured a commitment from UT Martin wing Jacob Crews. Since then, the Tigers have contacted multiple players but have yet to add anyone else to their 2024-25 roster, which will bring in five players who make up the nation’s No. 4 recruiting class.

Missouri currently has 14 scholarship players, including Crews, able to return. The NCAA sets a team’s limit at 13 scholarship players, suggesting more players are likely to leave MU in the near future. It’s also possible that Missouri uses Name, Image and Likeness funds to supplant traditional scholarship spots.

However the math shapes out … the Tigers have work to do.

The Columbia Daily Tribune will keep track of Missouri’s reported comings and goings until the 45-day window closes on May 1. Here is who is coming, who is going, and a look at players who might be coming:

Missouri basketball center Mabor Majak to grad transfer

Majak, a walk-on, 7-foot-2 center out of South Sudan, saw an uptick in game time in the 2023-24 season, featuring in 24 games with an average of 7.2 minutes per contest, up from eight appearances in 2022-23. He averaged 0.5 points and 1.3 rebounds per game last season.

Majak followed MU coach Dennis Gates from Cleveland State to Missouri in 2022. He was named a team captain ahead of the 2023-24 season. The grad transfer has one year of eligibility remaining.

Curt Lewis, guard

The NJCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Player of the Year at John A. Logan in 2022-23, Lewis never fully broke into the Missouri rotation in his lone year in Columbia, averaging 9.6 minutes on the floor over his 23 appearances, which included two starts.

Lewis averaged two points and 1.4 rebounds per game as a Tiger.

Jesus Carralero Martin, guard

Carralero Martin played 12.6 minutes per game in his single season at Missouri, starting in four of his 26 appearances. The transfer recorded 2.1 points and 1.5 assists per game. He had a season-high 10 points against Alabama on Jan. 16 in Tuscaloosa.

The Campbell transfer out of Malaga, Spain, has one year of eligibility remaining.
