Here are the Mississippi Miss Softball winners for the 2024 MHSAA season
The Mississippi High School Activities Association announced the 2024 winners for the annual MHSAA C Spire Mississippi Miss softball awards.
One winner from each class (1A-7A) was selected.
Here are the winners.
Class 7A
Jolie Hays
Senior | Northwest Rankin
The two-time MHSAA Miss Softball Award winner, Hays, is batting .538 with 50 hits and 26 RBIs. Hays is 18-0 with a 0.64 ERA and 169 strikeouts in 98⅔ innings pitched. Hays won Mississippi softball Gatorade Player of the Year in 2023 and is a Southern Miss signee.
Class 6A
Sadie Bright
Junior | South Panola
Bright has a 0.72 ERA and an 8-1 record with 179 strikeouts in 106⅔ innings pitched. She has a batting average of .266 with 21 hits and 13 RBIs. Bright has helped South Panola to a 25-6 record.
Class 5A
Annaston Tate
Senior | Wayne County
Tate has a batting average of .541 with an on-base percentage of .589 and 38 RBIs and 41 runs scored. Tate has 27 extra-base hits, including eight home runs.
Class 4A
Breelyn Cain
Senior | West Lauderdale
Cain, a Jones College signee, has helped lead West Lauderdale to a 30-3 record. Cain has a .366 batting average with 37 hits, 15 extra-base hits and 34 RBIs. She also has a 0.62 ERA with 135⅔ innings pitched, an 18-2 record and 215 strikeouts. This is Cain's second MHSAA Miss Softball award.
Class 3A
Ramsey Montgomery
Senior | Mantachie
Montgomery has a .432 batting average with 42 hits, 15 extra-base hits and 31 RBIs this season. She's also posted a 0.89 ERA with 301 strikeouts in 177 innings pitched. Montgomery is a Northeast Community College signee.
Class 2A
Lucy Cochran
Freshman | East Union
Cochran has a 17-3 record with a 1.01 ERA and 192 strikeouts in 110⅓ innings pitched. She also has a .311 batting average with 23 hits and 26 RBIs this season. Cochran has helped East Union to a 25-3 record. Cochran won the MHSAA Miss Softball award as an eighth-grader last season.
Class 1A
Emma Mayer
Senior | Myrtle
Mayer, a Northwest Mississippi Community College signee, has helped lead Myrtle to a 21-5 record this season and into the third round of the MHSAA Class 1A playoffs against Smithville. Mayer has a .492 batting average with a .598 on-percentage, 32 hits, 11 extra-base hits, 11 home runs and 43 RBIs this season.
