Milwaukee Brewers vs San Diego Padres: live score, game highlights, starting lineups
The Milwaukee Brewers wrap up a three-game series with the San Diego Padres at American Family Field on Wednesday afternoon.
Willy Adames breaks up Michael King's no-hitter
With two outs in the bottom of the seventh and two strikes on him, Brewers shortstop Willy Adames reached out and poked a fastball off the plate into right field for a bloop single. It was the first hit of the game for the Brewers against Padres starter Michael King.
Brewers were being no-hit by Michael King through six innings
Padres right-hander Michael King is on his game this afternoon. The only base runners he's allowed through six scoreless innings are a pair of walks in the second inning. Since then, he's retired 13 in a row and is spinning a no-hitter through six innings with eight strikeouts. King, who entered the game 2-0 with a 4.19 ERA, is at 72 pitches.
On the flip side, the Brewers' bullpen game is going as well as planned from a pitching perspective. Bryse Wilson, Bryan Hudson and Elvis Peguero haven't allowed a run through seven innings.
Scoreless through four innings
The pitching is the story early on as both staffs have held the opposition scoreless through four innings. San Diego right-hander Michael King has yet to allow a hit, while Brewers starter Bryse Wilson covered 11 outs in an abbreviated start by design before handing the ball to Bryan Hudson
