Netflix has confirmed that Millie Bobby Brown's new movie Damsel has been delayed to next year.

Following recent reports that the fantasy film would not make its original October 13 release date this year, the streamer has now revealed that it will indeed be released in 2024.

Netflix has shared a new poster for its Geeked Week showing Brown in character as she stands at the entrance of a cave, with the shadow of a dragon looming. The poster also shares that the film is "coming 2024".

We also don't have too long to wait to see footage from the movie as it's been confirmed that the teaser trailer for Damsel will arrive this Saturday (November 11).

The official synopsis reads: "A dutiful damsel agrees to marry a handsome prince, only to find the royal family has recruited her as a sacrifice to repay an ancient debt. Thrown into a cave with a fire-breathing dragon, she must rely on her wits and will to survive."

Alongside Brown, Damsel packs an impressive wider cast too, which includes Jurassic World's Nick Robinson, Black Panther's Angela Bassett and Black Widow's Ray Winstone.

Brown is perhaps best known for playing Eleven in Netflix's Stranger Things, which is gearing up for its fifth and final season.

However, work has been delayed due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strikes in Hollywood – and executive producer Shawn Levy recently clarified comments that suggested they would use any means to make the teenage cast look younger, especially given the time between seasons.

Asked whether they would use AI to make the cast look younger, he told Deadline: "No, I kind of was surprised that one sentence I said around this topic traveled so widely.

"The bottom line is, we know what we're doing on this show. Our cast is brilliant. And these characters that the Duffers have created are so vivid. I'm not worried about everyone suiting back up and bringing them to life."

Damsel will be released on Netflix in 2024.
