Miller school bus hit by semi-truck with two students on board

A Miller school district bus reportedly collided with a semi-truck Thursday morning on Highway 96 near Halltown, flipping the bus on its side and into a ditch.

Two students were on the bus, according to the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office, each sustaining minor injuries. The bus driver and the driver of the semi also suffered minor injuries.

The crash happened around 7 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 96 and Lawrence County Road 1207. According to authorities, the driver of the semi attempted to pass the westbound bus as it turned left onto County Road 1207, causing the collision.

The driver of the semi, whose vehicle also had substantial body damage, was reportedly trapped inside the truck before being helped out. The students, bus driver and semi driver reportedly refused medical treatment.
