Some quarterbacks try to play hero ball in the postseason. Mike McCarthy just wants Dak Prescott to be himself when the Cowboys begin the NFL Playoffs against the 49ers this Sunday.

The Cowboys, despite being the higher seed playing at home, are a trendy pick to get upset by the 49ers on Sunday. San Francisco’s physicality could prove to be a tough test for Dallas.

The key for the Cowboys is to get Prescott and the offense into a rhythm early on. That’ll require Prescott sticking to what he’s done all season.

Prescott asked McCarthy at the beginning of the week what the Cowboys head coach needs from the franchise quarterback for Sunday’s game. McCarthy had a simple answer.

“I need you to keep being exactly who you are,” McCarthy replied.

That’ll be key for Dak Prescott. He can’t let the moment get too big for him. And make no mistake – it’s a big moment.

The San Francisco 49ers have been here before. This is practically the same team that went on a run to the Super Bowl just two years ago. They’re physical, fast and have a plethora of weapons on both sides of the ball. This isn’t your typical six seed.

The Cowboys have the look of a Super Bowl contender, though. Prescott has been playing like he’s on a mission this season. He’ll need a big game to fend off the pesky 49ers on Sunday.
