Mike McCarthy Reacts To Cowboys Player’s Suspension

Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy offered a bit of insight into Trysten Hill’s two-game suspension on Tuesday afternoon.

Hill received a two-game suspension from the NFL for his actions following the Cowboys-Raiders game last Thursday. Hill struck a Raiders player in the face after the game.

Hill is now going through the appeal process with hope he can either eliminate the suspension all together or cut it down to one game.

McCarthy spoke about Hill and his appeal process during his press conference on Tuesday. He defended his defensive tackle when asked about the incident.

“He apologized for it the next day,” McCarthy said. “He acknowledged the fact that what he did was not right.”

Here’s a look at why Trysten Hill received a two-game suspension from the NFL.

That’s pretty inexcusable. It’s unlikely the NFL changes its mind regarding Hill’s suspension.

“Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Trysten Hill has been suspended two games without pay by the NFL for his postgame punch in an altercation with Las Vegas Raiders offensive lineman John Simpson, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport and NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported Monday,” wrote Grant Gordon of NFL.com.

“Hill’s suspension comes following a review by the league of all video from the game. NFL Vice President of Football Operations Jon Runyan issued the suspension, saying it was an open-handed punch to Simpson’s facemask, per Rapoport and Pelissero.”

Mike McCarthy will be without one of his key defensive players this Thursday against the Saints.
