Takeoff, a member of the rap group Migos, was shot and killed during a private party in Houston, Texas, according to Variety and WSB-TV.

The shooting happened early in the morning on Tuesday, Nov. 1, at 810 Billiards & Bowling. The fatal shooting was originally reported by TMZ.

The death of Takeoff, 28, led to a wave of condolences on social media Tuesday.

At least 40 people were at the private party, including Takeoff and fellow Migos member Quavo, KPRC reported.

The party carried over into the early-morning hours, when someone heard gunshots outside of a bar on the third floor, according to KHOU. Security guards heard the shots, but it’s unclear who opened fire, the TV station reported.

Police said one victim was pronounced dead at the scene. He was shot in the head or neck, KPRC reported.

Two others were taken in private vehicles to hospitals, police said on Twitter. Police have not publicly disclosed identities of the victims.

Multiple shell casing were found on the building’s third floor, according to KTRK.

Takeoff, whose real name is Kirshnik Khari Ball, was one-third of Migos, the hip-hop trio that rose to fame following their 2013 song “Versace.” The group is also known for the 2016 single titled “Bad and Boujee.”

The group is originally from Georgia and were raised together. Takeoff is Quavo’s nephew. The third member, Offset, is Quavo’s cousin.
