Midland man killed in Friday crash

Nov. 17—A 41-year-old Midland man was killed in a two-vehicle crash on FM 1788 Friday morning.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a preliminary investigation revealed Jim Louie Ruiz failed to control his speed while driving a Ford van and rear-ended a GMC Sierra flatbed that was being driven by a 42-year-old McCamey man on FM 1788 one mile south of Interstate 20.

Ruiz was taken to Midland Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The other driver wasn't hurt.
