Middle Georgia’s first tiny house festival is this weekend. Here’s what to know.

Tiny houses will invade Middle Georgia for the first annual South Eastern Tiny House Festival in Danville.

On Oct. 22 Hummingbird Tiny Home Rentals will be hosting over 30 tiny structures on their 10 acre farm located at 3662 Old Macon Road from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Directions to the farm and a map can be found on the event’s website.

Hummingbird is partnering with MicroLife Institute, an Atlanta-based, non-profit organization that advocates for better housing. MicroLife has been bringing its South Eastern Tiny House Festival all around Georgia and this year, it found its home in Danville.

“The Tiny House Festival is our best, most engaging and most fun way to have those important and necessary dialogues about our nation’s housing crisis and existing solutions,” said Will Johnston, executive director of MicroLife. “Through this event, we can reach thousands and help them understand how to expand housing options in their own communities, and learn about the benefits of micro-living. It’s the most important work we do.”

In addition to the tiny homes, there will be Skoolies – school buses transformed into tiny homes – parked on the farm, as well as an outdoor kitchen, petting zoo, hayrides and a pumpkin patch.

Touring homes and having some family fun is just a tiny part of the festival.

If you are looking for more information about tiny houses in the area, how to build one or how to get your own tiny home business started, there will be plenty of resources available.

Zach Griffin, co-host of Tiny House Nation, Nikitia Moore-Floyd from HGTV and more will be in attendance sharing insight about the industry.

Lots of vendors that will also be be on site. If you get hungry, food truck favorites like Burger IM, Mama’s Kitchen and The Hot Dog Station will be cookin’.
