It's one of the greatest motorsports friendships we've seen in recent years. Sebastian Vettel and Mick Schumacher's relationship on and off track in Formula One has been wonderful to watch, with both German drivers celebrating and lifting each other up through good and bad.

This morning, when Vettel announced his retirement on Instagram, Schumacher posted two tributes to his friend:

Amazingly, we also had an interview scheduled with Mick this morning for our upcoming Motorsports Issue. Here's what he had to say about his friend leaving F1:

I see he just joined Instagram and obviously shared a message there. He sent me a message earlier today saying that he would retire. And obviously I’m a bit sad on one side, but I understand him and I see him also in his private environment and I just know how much he enjoys being at home and being with his family. I really wish him only the best. I know he still has a lot that he wants to achieve and lots that he feels like he wants to do. And I support him and in all of that for sure. And he might not be racing anymore next year, but for sure I’ll be seeing him as much as I can. And yeah, I’m sure we won’t, let’s say, stop speaking or anything like that. I think it’s going to be the other way around that actually we’ll probably meet up more and see each other more just because he has more time.

If you were at all worried these two would stop being pals once Vettel left, don't worry. This one goes deeper than racing.
