Michael B. Jordan named People’s 2020 Sexiest Man Alive

A big-screen bad boy is People magazine’s latest heartthrob.

Michael B. Jordan, who played villain Erik Killmonger in “Black Panther,” was named People’s 2020 Sexiest Man Alive. The 33-year-old actor joins such recent winners as John Legend, Idris Elba, Chris Hemsworth and David Beckham in the 35-year history of the honor.

“It’s a cool feeling,” Jordan, who grew up in Newark, told People. “You know, everybody always made that joke, like, ‘Mike, this is the one thing you’re probably not going to get.’ But it’s a good club to be a part of.”

Despite an already impressive resume, Jordan joked that the women in his life “are definitely proud of this one.”

“When my grandmother was alive, (People) was something that she collected, and then my mom naturally reads it a lot and my aunts as well,” he told the magazine. “This is one that they’re definitely going to have a special place for.”

Beyond starring in movies like “Fruitvale Station,” “Creed” and “Fantastic Four,” Jordan also started a production company, Outlier Society Productions, which was the first to adopt an inclusion rider that mandates a diverse cast and crew on all projects.

“I think there’s a time and a place for everything,” Jordan said. “I’ve been picking my moments to make the most impact. We can all take action — big or small — to help create the change we want to see.”
