TCU’s Micah Peavy intends to enter the transfer portal.

Peavy’s has not officially registered in the portal, but it can take 24-48 hours for a player’s name to officially register. This caused some initial confusion, but Peavy’s father David took to social media and confirmed the transfer reports by sharing them with a retweet on his page.

The talented, versatile wing has one more year of eligibility remaining and will also explore the NBA Draft. Peavy had the best season of his career with 10.9 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.6 assists while being the Horned Frogs’ best perimeter defender at 6-foot-8.

Peavy started his career at Texas Tech and then transferred to TCU in 2021. He was a key reserve in his first two seasons, averaging over 20 minutes a night before he started all 34 games this season.

One NBA scout compared Peavy to Spurs forward Julian Champagnie, an undrafted wing with a similar build to Peavy that has found a role in San Antonio with 49 starts this season. If Peavy does decide to enter the portal, the door will remain open for him to return to Fort Worth.

If he doesn’t, it would be a big loss for TCU, which already must replace Emanuel Miller, Chuck O’Bannon, Avery Anderson and Jameer Nelson Jr. who used up their eligibility. Nelson could return if he receives a waiver from the NCAA.

Expect TCU to be active in the transfer portal once again as Jamie Dixon tries to bring more experienced players to pair with the Horned Frogs incoming recruiting class, which is currently ranked No. 16 in the country.
