Miami woman accused of killing her 2 kids: ‘I don’t want them anymore’

A Miami mom was arrested Tuesday night after police found her two children dead in their home.

Odette Lysse Joassaint, 41, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, local ABC affiliate WPLG reported. Her children, a 5-year-old girl named Laura and a 3-year-old boy named Jeffrey, were found dead in a bedroom.

Cops said Joassaint called 911 multiple times but hung up, according to WPLG. In one of her calls, police quoted her as saying, “Come get them. I don’t want them anymore.”

Police said they arrived to find the children laying on a bed with their arms, legs and necks bound, WPLG reported. First responders attempted to revive the children, but they were pronounced dead at the scene.

Miami police said Joassaint “seemed to be in a crisis.” She was initially taken to a nearby hospital before being arrested, according to local NBC affiliate WTVJ.

Joassaint made her first court appearance Wednesday and a judge denied her bail, WPLG reported. Neighbors were stunned.

“You’re a mother,” Darlene Petion told the station. “How do you feel, like what is it? Is there a devil in your head?”
