MHSAA cross country: Cardinal Mooney's Tyler Lenn wins Division 4 boys state title

More than 2,000 athletes traveled to Michigan International Speedway on Saturday for the 2023 MHSAA boys and girls cross country state finals.

But only eight left as individual state champions, including one from the Blue Water Area.

Cardinal Mooney's Tyler Lenn won the Division 4 boys title with a time of 15:49.0.

Here are the results for every local team and individual that participated.

Division 1

Port Huron Northern: The Huskies had two runners from the boys team. Luke VanderHeuvel placed 88th with a time of 16:24.2, while Luke Maher finished 205th at 17:07.5

Division 2

Armada: The Tigers had two runners from both the boys and girls teams. Luke Nawrocki finished 180th in the boys race with a time of 17:42.6, while Tyler Buckland placed 243rd at 19:05.2. Ava Baltierra finished 85th in the girls race with a time of 19:47.7, while Brooklyn Khon placed 130th at 20:23.0.

Croswell-Lexington: The girls team finished 18th out of 27 schools with 458 points. Morgan Newton placed 42nd with a time of 19:12.8. She was followed by Eva Thompson (19:17.5, 46th), Brynn Hurley (20:49.1, 160th), Eliza Nelson (21:18.9, 187th), Abagayle Barkley (22:27.1, 227th), Jaylynn Maduri (23:06.8, 238th) and Carly Old (23:50.1, 245th).

Marine City: The Mariners had two runners from the boys team. Alex Robertson placed 186th with a time of 17:46.7, while Jayden Robertson finished 233rd at 18:41.3.

Marysville: Lillian Rutallie was the Vikings' lone participant. She placed 146th in the girls race with a time of 20:36.6.

Richmond: The Blue Devils had two runners from the girls team. Brianna Albers finished 206th with a time of 21:40.3, while Pauline Chapman placed 215th at 21:58.9.

St. Clair: The boys team placed 22nd out of 27 schools with 538 points. Dylan Distelrath finished 99th and led the Saints with a time of 16:42.9. He was followed by Ethan Kreger (17:21.5, 153rd), Dylan Schumann (17:27.0, 160th), Jerry Westrick (17:33.4, 169th), Brayden Prieskorn (17:38.2, 173rd), Korbyn Thornton (17:54.2, 196th) and Colin Boullard (19:25.3, 249th).

The girls team finished 27th with 659 points. Gabriella Komarowski placed 173rd and led the Saints with a time of 21:04.6. She was followed by Ella Thornton (21:20.9, 188th), Molly McNabb (21:22.6, 191st), Allie Komarowski (21:40.9, 207th), Aubrey Sargent (21:42.0, 210th), Clair Bacon (22:48.9, 233rd) and Eden Brewer (23:09.4, 239th).

Yale: The boys team placed 15th out of 27 schools with 371 points. Giovanni Pardo-Keegan finished 45th led the Bulldogs with a time of 16:14.1. He was followed by Acer Campbell (16:15.3, 48th), Blake Ferguson (16:37.8, 87th), Wyatt Murtos (17:24.6, 156th), Teddy Rutkofske (17:41.7, 179th), Nolan Korolden (18:09.4, 211th) and Kale Kovach (18:31.4, 232rd).

Division 3

Almont: The Raiders had two runners from the girls team and one from the boys team. Ayla DeLaurier placed 159th in the girls race with a time of 21:48.9, while Laila Evola finished 213th at 22:44.8. Colton Grzyb placed 209th in the boys race with a time of 18:45.9.

Algonac: The Muskrats had one runner from both the boys and girls teams. Owen Beindit finished 154th in the boys race with a time of 17:56.1. Jasmine Walker placed 167th in the girls race at 21:54.6.

Division 4

Brown City: The Green Devils had one runner from both the boys and girls teams. Carson Burgess finished 30th in the boys race with a time of 16:54.4. Kyra Beemer placed 91st in the girls race at 21:27.6.

Cardinal Mooney: The boys team placed 14th out of 27 schools with 377 points. Tyler Lenn finished first with a time of 15:49.0 to win the Division 4 state championship. He was followed by Isaac Zammit (17:19.0, 45th), Max Procissi (18:57.2, 168th), Evan Jacobs (18:57.4, 169th), Brennen Demeulenaere (19:39.6, 200th), John Bailey (20:12.3, 222nd) and Connor Guyor (23:41.8, 248th).

Kimball New Life Christian: Julia Rogers was the Knights' lone participant. She placed 74th in the girls race with a time of 21:07.8.

Marlette: The Red Raiders had one runner from both the boys and girls teams. Turlough Bennett finished 50th in the boys race with a time of 17:21.7. Lily Lemanski placed 21st in the girls race at 19:41.5.
