Mets Make Robinson Cano Decision: MLB World Reacts

The New York Mets have decided to release Robinson Cano from their major league roster.

Cano was DFA’d on Monday (designated for assignment) to bring the roster down to 26 players. Pitcher Yoan Lopez was also sent to Triple-A following Sunday’s game against the Phillies.

This move shouldn’t be surprising, considering how Cano started the season. In 41 appearances at the plate, Cano had just eight hits and 3 RBIs. He was also batting just .195 on the season.

At the start of the season, the Mets still owed Cano $40.5 million of his contract. Not great!

The MLB world has had some interesting reactions to this move on social media.

Cano will likely try and play for another MLB team this season if one does come calling.

The Mets are currently in first place in the NL East with a 16-7 record. They’ll start a four-game series with the Atlanta Braves on Monday at 7:10 p.m. ET.
