All-Metro boys golf team: Who the Wichita Eagle picked as top players from 2023 season

The Wichita area featured some of the best high school boys golfers in Kansas this season and that star power is highlighted on The Wichita Eagle’s 2023 All-Metro boys golf team.

The All-Metro squad consists of six of the top golfers and a top coach from Sedgwick, Butler and Harvey counties, based on season-long performance with an emphasis on postseason finishes.

Bishop Carroll senior Noah Holtzman, who won the individual Class 5A state championship, was selected as the Golfer of the Year on the All-Metro team. Below is the full team:

2023 Wichita Eagle All-Metro boys golf team

Jaydon Carruthers, Derby junior

Carruthers notched a top-20 finish at the 6A state tournament, tying for 15th place to conclude a season that saw him finish with a 71.7 scoring average. He is a first-time All-Metro selection.

Colt Farrow, Andover Central freshman

The freshman was an immediate star at Andover Central, finishing in fifth place at his debut 5A state tournament and finishing his season with a 71.9 scoring average.

Conner Geist, Kapaun Mt. Carmel senior

The Wichita State signee notched another top-10 finish at the 5A state tournament and ended his season with a 71.6 scoring average. He is a two-time All-Metro selection.

Anderson Helmer, Circle freshman

The freshman rallied to win the biggest tournament of the season, shooting a two-day score of 149 to win the 4A individual state title.

Noah Holtzman, Bishop Carroll senior

No one was better than Holtzman during his senior year, as he won his second straight 5A individual state title and also helped Carroll win its first team championship. The Kansas signee carded a state-record, 9-under round of 61 at state and finished his season with a 68.1 scoring average. He ended his career as a three-time All-Metro selection and two-time Golfer of the Year.

Asher Whitaker, Kapaun Mt. Carmel junior

The Oklahoma commit delivered another superb season, finishing with a 69.4 scoring average. He once again was in contention at state and finished with a runner-up performance in the 5A field. He has been an All-Metro pick all three years in his career.

Bishop Carroll won its first team state championship in school history this season, led by Golfer of the Year and KU signee Noah Holtzman, the individual medalist. Berger helped guide the Golden Eagles to a historic season with the rest of the lineup being rounded out by senior Colby Hays, freshman Max Farber, senior Luke Shelton, senior Pearce Lashley and sophomore Landon Timmermeyer.
