Mercy softball leads late vs Bullitt East in suspended 24th District Tournament final
Junior Ava Reinhart hit a two-run home run to help propel Mercy Academy softball to a late lead in the 24th District Tournament on Wednesday night at Jeffersontown
The Jaguars led, 7-2, against No. 15 Bullitt East in the seventh inning when the game was delayed because of inclement weather. The suspended game is scheduled to resume at 5 p.m. Thursday, weather permitting.
On April 25, Mercy defeated the host Chargers, 9-5, in a regular-season game.
Reinhart’s home run to left field in the first inning Wednesday gave the Jaguars a 3-1 lead.
The draw for the Sixth Region Tournament is set for Friday morning. The 24th District Tournament winner will host a quarterfinal, and the loser will open on the road.
