Memphis weather: Severe thunderstorms to bring damaging winds, chance of tornadoes to Mid-South

Tuesday's weather is set to remain stormy and windy.

According to the National Weather Service, there is a possibility for multiple severe storms to hit the Mid-South Tuesday. The weather service predicts the timing to last from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. this evening.

A tornado warning is in effect until 9:30 a.m. for Humboldt, Ripley and Alamo, Tennessee.

According to the weather service, severe thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and evening. There is a possibility for damaging winds, large hail and a few tornadoes. Storms are expected to exit the region by tomorrow morning. Storms are also expected to cause power outages.

Tuesday forecast for Memphis

The primary threats from today's storms will be damaging winds and quick occurring tornadoes. The secondary threats are large hail and heavy rain.

The high for Tuesday will be 79 degrees and the low will be 46 degrees. There is an 80% chance of rain during the day and a 20% chance tonight.

Power outages in Memphis

The morning thunderstorms have caused over 31,000 customers to lose power as of 9:30 a.m., according to the Memphis Light, Gas & Water customer outage map.
