Here's a look at promotions, hirings, movers and newsmakers in the Memphis area business scene:

Rhodes College is among the nation’s leading institutions for study abroad, according to the Open Doors 2023 Report on International Educational Exchange released by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and the Institute of International Education (IIE). Rhodes ranked No. 29 for number of undergraduate participating (196 total for Rhodes); No. 31 for participating baccalaureate colleges and No. 13 for number of students participating in short-term programs. The rankings are based on participation in academic year 2021-22. The Open Doors 2023 Report shows that during the 2021-22 academic year, U.S. study abroad rebounded to more than half of pre-pandemic levels according to a news release by IIE.

Nextech announced an official partnership with Remington College — a nonprofit college headquartered in Dallas with a location in Memphis — as a preferred employer partner. Nextech provides 24-hour nationwide HVAC/R services and employs nearly 2,000 self-performing technicians around the country. Remington College offers HVAC programs at nine campuses in four states.

Nia Nguyen has joined Junior Achievement of Memphis and the Mid-South as the nonprofit’s office coordinator. Prior to joining JA, she served in sales and customer service including as sales account executive with Truxio and wellness advisor with YogaSix. She will help coordinate office duties and provide administrative support in the development and programs teams.

Hi-Speed Industrial Service added two new professionals to its team.

  • Dave Rasmussen joined as General Manager of its Millington and Little Rock, Arkansas, locations, where he is responsible for overseeing operations and driving process improvement. He has more than 25 years of professional experience as an operations executive. Prior to joining Hi-Speed, he held multiple leadership positions at Ferrellgas including account manager, general manager and director of operations.

  • Ron Melton joined as Operations Manager for the Millington motor repair division. He is responsible for leading the company’s operational efficiency. Melton has 40-plus years of experience in electromechanical equipment service, and repair and sales, the majority of which was spent with Flanders Electric.
