Cyrilyn Walters, medical director of ambulatory services at Regional One Health, was honored during the Tennessee Health Association’s (THA) 2023 annual meeting. She was the recipient of the Diversity Champion Award.

Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare added general surgeon Matthew Grant Hogan to its Methodist Medical Group-General Surgery practice at its Eastmoreland Avenue location. He specializes in acute care surgery, robotic surgery, incisional hernia repair, inguinal hernia repair, and cholecystectomy and colectomy procedures. He earned a medical degree from The Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine in San Antonio and completed his internship and residency at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center.

Commercial Bank and Trust has a new vice president and loan officer Brian Vincent has joined the Memphis team. He is responsible for helping the bank’s clients and prospects achieve and strengthen their financial futures. Vincent has 10 years of retail banking experience and launched a financial education program for a regional bank.

ProTech Services Group has hired Todd Via as Senior Vice President of Cybersecurity. ProTech recently transitioned into a Managed Services Security Provider. Via is tasked with building a well-trained team, developing strategic partnerships with leaders in the cybersecurity arena, and offering internal education to ensure that all account managers understand the cybersecurity-related needs of clients. His experience prior to ProTech included more than a decade as a managing partner of Pyx Solutions, Venture Technologies and later by ConvergeOne.

  • Marilyn Jenkins, primary guide, received a bachelor’s degree in history from Villanova University and recently completed Catechesis of the Good Shepherd training.

  • Sara Barton, elementary assistant, has seven years of early childhood education experience at the Memphis Jewish Community Center. She received early childhood education training from the Tennessee Department of Education.

  • Eliana Mabe, toddler assistant, also will serve as the theater guide. She received a bachelor's degree in media studies with minors in theater and religious studies from Rhodes College.

Hughes

  • Rae Hughes, toddler assistant, graduated from the University of Memphis with a degree in language and linguistics and previously taught art in Horn Lake.

For a fourth consecutive year, Baker Donelson has achieved Mansfield Certification Plus status, a structured certification process designed to ensure all talent at participating law firms has a fair and equal opportunity to advance into leadership. Mansfield, a project of Diversity Lab, is focused on broadening the talent pool for consideration, including those historically underrepresented in the legal profession, to facilitate transparent pathways to leadership.

Rhodes College’s Mike Curb Institute for Music has been named to Billboard’s list of the 2023 Top Music Business Schools. This is the third time the college has made the list since 2020; Billboard did not release a list in 2021. Programs were chosen based on factors including industry recommendations, alumni success post-graduation, innovative music industry curriculum, and noteworthy events/speakers and community partnerships.

NOTEWORTHY

The Early Head Start program at Porter-Leath was one of 13 programs among 1,600 Head Start grantees nationally that was designated as a 2023 Program of Excellence by the National Head Start Association. Porter-Leath met 41 Indicators of Excellence, reflecting the organization’s commitment to provide quality services that respond to both the aspirations and needs of local children and families. The five-year national designation is earned only by those Head Start and Early Head Start programs that consistently demonstrate excellence in program management and service performance.
