The Overton Park Shell announced new hires within the organization: Formerly with City Leadership, Shelby Smith is now senior manager of Marketing and Communications, and Savanna Gifford, formerly with Memphis in May, is now manager of Development-Corporate Giving.

Henderson
Henderson

Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare added Ellena Henderson to its Methodist Medical Group-Primary Care in Midtown. She is a board certified physician specializing in internal medicine and infectious diseases. She received a medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Henderson completed a fellowship in infectious diseases at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville.

Hutton

Diocesan attorney Robert L. Hutton has been named to serve as chairman-elect of the National Advisory Council to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops during its recent semi-annual meeting in Baltimore. Under its bylaws, Hutton will begin service on the Executive Board immediately and automatically transition to serve as Chairman of the NAC on Jan. 1, 2025.

McGhee
McGhee

Eleanor "Ellie" McGhee was named director of marketing for Hollywood Feed, a natural and holistic pet food and supply retailer headquartered in Memphis. She will oversee marketing and communications for the brand nationwide. McGhee has nearly a decade of professional experience in the pet industry. Prior to her new position, she served throughout Hollywood Feed including as sales associate, marketing analyst, e-commerce manager and platform technology manager.

Seaton

Christopher Seaton, professor of mathematics at Rhodes College, is among 46 mathematical scientists from across the country who have been named inaugural recipients of the AMS-Simons Research Enhancement Grants for Primarily Undergraduate Institution Faculty. Awardees receive $3,000 a year for three years to support research-related activities. This is a new program launched by the American Mathematical Society with funding from the Simons Foundation and donors from the Menger family.

Christian Brothers University recently was ranked among the top tier of Southern universities by U.S. News and World Report’s 2023-24 edition of “Best Colleges.”

  • CBU is ranked 13th of 136 schools included among the Southern Regional Universities category in the U.S. News methodology, which is based upon classifications created by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.

  • The school is rated third for Best Value among Southern Universities. This ranking considers CBU’s academic quality in relation to the net cost of attendance for a student who received the average level of need-based financial aid.

  • CBU rose from 22nd to 12th among the 135 schools included among the Southern Regional Universities in the Social Mobility category. This category recognizes universities that advance social mobility by enrolling and graduating large proportions of disadvantaged students awarded with Pell Grants.

  • CBU also ranked in a selective new category — Best Undergraduate Teaching — that U.S. News introduced this year, being recognized as a tie for 13th among 19 schools from the Southern Regional Universities category. This ranking “focuses on universities whose faculty and administrators are committed to teaching undergraduate students in a high-quality manner.”

  • In the Ethnic Diversity category, for students who are interested in a multicultural environment, CBU ranked sixth among Southern Regional Universities for Campus Ethnic Diversity, with a 44% minority enrollment.

  • CBU’s School of Engineering was ranked among the Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs by U.S. News. The engineering program rankings were based solely on peer assessment surveys.
