Memorial Day parades and events are taking place in Westchester, Rockland. See where

Communities all across the Lower Hudson Valley will be honoring their active and fallen service members during Memorial Day weekend with events from parades to ceremonies.

Here are some of the events and commemorations for Memorial Day across the Lower Hudson Valley.

Katonah

Westchester County's annual Memorial Day ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 24 in the Ladson Park and Arboretum Veteran's Memorial in Katonah. This year, the Westchester Veterans Museum is set to reopen with a new exhibit, "The American Experience During World War II." The exhibit will tell the story of major World War II battles and the local veterans who called Westchester County home during the war, as well as the experience of county residents on the home front. Mount Vernon

The NAACP Mount Vernon branch is hosting a Memorial Day parade at 8 a.m. on Monday, May 27. The route starts at E. Prospect Avenue in the Foodtown parking lot. 31 E. Prospect Avenue, Mount Vernon.

St. Paul's Church National Historic Site in Mount Vernon is hosting a Memorial Day commemoration at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 27. The event will include a ceremony inside the church, wreath laying and a guided tour about the lives of veterans buried in the cemetery, especially those who died in World War II. An additional presentation at 2:30 p.m. will explore how World War II has been portrayed in American movies. Admission and parking are free and refreshments will be served during the event. 897 S. Valhalla

Valhalla's annual Memorial Day parade will take place at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, May 27 on Westlake Drive behind Valhalla Methodist Church. The parade will march down Columbus Avenue to the village green and gazebo, where a special ceremony will honor local service members past and present. The Valhalla American Legion Post 1038 said hot dogs, ice cream and refreshments will be served after the parade and ceremony at the American Legion building.

White Plains

White Plains is holding its annual Memorial Day parade at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 27. The parade route starts at Church Street and will end at the Rural Cemetery on N. Broadway with a ceremony to follow.

Rye

Playland's park's pool and beach will open on Memorial Day weekend with a special opening ceremony at noon on Monday, May 27 to honor service members. The celebration will include evening fireworks and the debut of the Playland Hometown Heroes Banner Program, which will feature personalized banners that will be displayed along the waterfront until Veterans Day. 1 Playland Parkway, Rye.

Haverstraw

The Rockland County Veterans Service Agency will host a commemoration with Rockland County Executive Ed Day at the Gulf War Memorial in Haverstraw Bay Park at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 23.

New City

A Memorial Day ceremony will take place at the Promenade of Heroes in Zukor Park at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 24. 31 Zukor Road, New City.

Pearl River

The John H. Secor American Legion Post 329 in Pearl River will be hosting the village's annual Memorial Day parade at 10:15 a.m. on Monday, May 27. The parade route will start at the Key Bank on North Middletown Road, south to East Central Avenue to Braunsdorf Park, where Post 329 commander, army veteran and guest speaker Danny Davin will pay tribute to past local service members.

Nyack

VFW Post 9215 and American Legion Post 310 in Blauvelt will be replacing flags at Oak Hill Cemetery, where over 900 veterans and two Medal of Honor recipients are buried, at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 25. 140 Highland Avenue, Nyack.

The Village of Nyack's annual Memorial Day parade will take place at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 27. The route will start on Main Street and Franklin Street, head down South Broadway to Depew Avenue and end at the top field of Memorial Park.

Congers

The Veterans Memorial Association of Congers will host its annual Memorial Day parade at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 25. A ceremony honoring fallen local veterans will follow the parade at the Veterans Memorial Association building at 66 Lake Road.
