A Memorial Day ceremony is planned for Oconee Veteran's Park near Watkinsville.

The Oconee Veterans Memorial Foundation Inc. will play host to a Memorial Day program on Monday at Oconee Veterans Park on Hog Mountain Road in Watkinsville.

The program begins at 11 a.m. and features music, a traditional laying of wreaths and a speech by U.S. Army Lt. Col. John Campbell.

Veteran organizations are invited to erect display tents and visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved to the community center at the park.

Campbell is a member of the 187th Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear Enhanced Response Force Package.

The foundation also announced that an additional 40 names have been engraved on the North Wall of Honor. Donations received go toward construction and maintenance of the wall with its honoring of the 39 killed in action from Oconee County.
