Members of police and school in Norwell among the highest paid city employees, according to records

NORWELL – Four of the top 10 highest-paid town workers in 2023 were members of the police department according to data from the town.

Last year, 189 employees earned more than $100,000, with 17 making more than $150,000, according to a list of salaries obtained by The Patriot Ledger.

Out of these employees, six are members of the police department and six others are in administration for the school department.

The highest earner last year was Superintendent of Schools Michael Keegan, who earned about $269,000. Keegan was the town's highest-paid employee in both 2021 and 2022, when he made about $243,000 and $256,000, respectively.

Keegan was not the only member of the list that saw an increase in pay, for example, Patrolman Francis N. Molla Jr. saw an increase from $176,000 to $193,000. Moreover, Fire Chief David Kean saw an increase of about $12,000 compared to 2022.

Other notable earners include Town Administrator Darleen Sullivan who earned around $185,000 according to records. Kean earned around $172,000 and Chief of Police Edward Lee earned around $167,000.

In total, Norwell paid about $40 million in various types of compensation to employees in 2023.
