Meghan McCain slams Arizona county GOP for censuring her mother over Biden support
Meghan McCain is continuing to clap back at the Arizona Republican Party for its attempts to censure her mother, Cindy McCain, widow of the late Sen. John McCain (R-Arizona).
“I like people who don’t start insurrections or commit acts of domestic terrorism against our republic,” “The View” co-host tweeted Sunday in answer to the Arizona Republican Party’s vow to censure her mother.
The Maricopa County Republicans had tried to censure Cindy McCain at its annual meeting on Saturday but did not formally amend its existing censure resolution against former Sen. Jeff Flake because it was already on the floor. However, the notion got a lot of cheers, according to the Arizona Republic and the Arizona GOP.
Flake and Cindy McCain are in GOP hot water for refusing to support President Trump’s baseless allegations of election fraud and his disputing of the win of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Cindy McCain has been an outspoken supporter of Biden, even appearing in campaign ads and endorsing him for president.
Thus the state GOP plans to finish the job when it meets later this month, the Arizona Republican Party said in a tweet Sunday.
After further review, it appears the @MaricopaGOP did not formally censure Cindy McCain. There was a call, a second, and near unanimous cheering/approval - but resolutions can’t be amended from the floor. The @AZGOP will vote on a “Censure McCain” resolution on Jan 23. Thank you!

Cindy McCain would be in good company. Her husband was censured by his party in 2014. He died of a brain tumor in 2018.
Meghan McCain, who came out in defense of her mother after Saturday’s proceedings, has continued to troll the GOP.
“@AZGOP want to know what ‘McCain’ did that none of you troglodytes can - WIN STATE ELECTIONS,” his daughter tweeted Sunday.
“Yeah – for the Democrats,” rejoined the GOP.
“You just got swept by Democrats,” Meghan McCain snapped back. “McSally got torched twice. So much winning from you guys.”
Earlier the GOP had asked, “Seriously, what’s wrong with the NeverTrumpers and the Democrats tonight? They seem to be more angry than usual. Is it something we said?”
“Five people died in a domestic terror attack instigated by the president,” McCain wrote back. “Keep playing the violins on the Titanic @AZGOP.”

She was referring to last Wednesday’s rout at the Capitol, in which hundreds of Trump supporters stormed the building, pinned legislators and their staff inside, and trashed the place. Five people were killed, including a police officer, and another officer reportedly took his life this weekend.
