Meghan Markle Wore a Sleek Black Dress to the UN Celebration of Nelson Mandela International Day

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are back in NYC today, and their first official stop was at the United Nations. Prince Harry is set to deliver a keynote address at a General Assembly meeting this morning in honor of Nelson Mandela International Day, delivering remarks on "the memories and legacy of Mandela and what has been learned from his struggle and his life that can help us face the new challenges in the world today," South Africa’s UN mission told The Guardian. He and Meghan are also expected to join meetings with UN ambassadors later today.
Meghan attended the event alongside her husband, looking like a consummate New Yorker in a sleek all-black ensemble. She paired what appears to be a Givenchy Patch Pocket Pencil Skirt and a black, crewneck, elbow-length top—a style she clearly favors, as she wore a nearly identical look in green for her 2018 trip to Ireland. Meghan paired her look today with a pair of black pumps, Shiffon Co. rings, and a Mulberry Bayswater tote.
This, of course, isn't the first time that Harry and Meghan have payed tribute to the late South African president and activist. In 2018, when the couple undertook their royal tour of South Africa, one of their stops was to tour the the Nelson Mandela Centenary Exhibition at Southbank Centre's Queen Elizabeth Hall, celebrating Mandela's life on the 100th anniversary of his birth. While there, they got to meet a number of people close to Mandela, including his granddaughter, Zamaswazi Dlamini-Mandela.
