Meghan Markle & Prince Harry Were Nearly Dragged into This Photoshop Mess—But Their Pregnancy Photographer Shut That Right Down

Royal fans have been on edge ever since Kate Middleton apologized for Photoshopping her latest family photo. It didn’t take long for similar accusations to turn toward Prince Harry and Meghan Markle—that is, until their photographer shut down the rumors.

In the aftermath of Princess Catherine’s apology, several U.K. news outlets started to question the legitimacy of other royal photos, including the portrait that Prince Harry, 39, and Markle, 42, used to announce their second pregnancy. This prompted the photographer, Misan Harriman, to set the record straight by sharing the original image on social media.

Harriman shared a slideshow of photos, including the original color photograph and the photographic data (which confirms that no editing occurred).

“The original Jpeg without the black and White grade,” the caption read. “No trees or meadows were moved or swapped, this is the image straight out of camera.”

The photographer also corrected reports about the background, adding, “Also that is a Jacaranda Tree, not a willow tree.”

Harriman’s response was in regards to reports that the photographer had altered this specific photo, particularly the trees and landscape around the royal couple. On Instagram, in addition to proving the reports wrong with the original photo, he posted a video message where he said, "To see an article saying, as fact, that I did what I did not do is extraordinary to me. And then to try to merge it with this current news cycle of what's happening is tragic to see.”

This is clearly in reference to the picture “controversy” that began earlier this week, when Princess Catherine shared a never-before-seen photo of herself and her three children, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5. When royal fans pointed out that the photo was edited from its original version, the Princess of Wales issued an apology.

“Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing,” she wrote in a now-expired Instagram Story. “I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused. I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother’s Day. C.”
