Meghan Changes Into a White Suit With Flared Pants for Second Engagement in Nigeria

Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan made a quick change for their second engagement of the day today in Nigeria.
After spending the morning at a school, learning about its mental health initiative and dancing with the young students, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex met with Nigerian Chief of Defence Staff Christopher Musa at the Defence Headquarters in the heart of Abuja, the country’s capital.
For the engagement, the duchess changed out of her backless peach Windsor dress and into a crisp white suit composed of a fitted long blazer and matching flared pants. She paired the set with copper suede pumps, her gold choker from this morning, and small gold earrings. She let her hair down for the afternoon engagement.
Harry looked elegant in an aqua suit, white shirt, and navy blue tie.
At the headquarters, the duke thanked their hosts and spoke about his and Meghan’s reason for the visit ahead of the 2025 Invictus Games: to continue building important relationships and supporting rehabilitation through sport for injured and wounded service members.
“Thank you so much for welcoming us to this beautiful country,” he said.
Harry also praised Nigeria for adopting sport as part of rehabilitation and noted that the country, which made its debut at the 2023 games in Germany, was a welcome addition to the Invictus community. “The [Nigerian] team that turned up in Düsseldorf was small but mighty,” he said. “They danced their way into the stage. They won medals and danced off the stage. They were the life and soul of those games. Our goal now is to help you grow that team and provide as much opportunity and resource here in Nigeria and for the games that are coming at the beginning of next year.”
General Musa said seeing wounded and injured soldiers’ reactions to the games made him further appreciate how sport can give people hope: “When I saw them at Invictus and seeing them smile and seeing their faces—they thought the world had forgotten them, but I could see they were appreciated.”
The general also told Meghan and Harry about the terrorism and crime the Nigerian armed forces face, and that improvised explosive devices present “the greatest challenge” for the military. Harry said he is looking forward to visiting the armed forces hospital in Kaduna later today and getting a sense of scale of the problem.
As the couple signed the visitor’s book, Harry remarked on Meghan’s calligraphy: “She has beautiful handwriting.” She wrote, “With gratitude for the support of the Invictus community. And for welcoming me home.” The prince added his own note: “Thank you for welcoming us to your beautiful country together, we will heal our troops.”
This is just the beginning of Harry and Meghan’s trip to the African country. On Saturday, the duke and duchess will attend a training session for charity organization Nigeria: Unconquered and a reception hosted by the Chief of Defence Staff in honor of military families. That afternoon, the duchess will cohost an event for Women in Leadership with Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, director general of the World Trade Organization.
On Sunday, both Harry and Meghan will attend a basketball clinic with Giants of Africa, a cultural reception, and a polo fundraiser for Nigeria: Unconquered.
