Meet UNC linebacker Cedric Gray, the Tennessee Titans’ fourth-round 2024 NFL Draft pick

The Tennessee Titans improved the tackle position on offense and defense by selecting Alabama offensive tackle JC Latham and Texas defensive tackle T'Vondre Sweat in the first two rounds of the 2024 NFL Draft.

To start the final day of the draft the Titans remained focused on defense, picking North Carolina linebacker Cedric Gray.

Gray was named to the All-ACC first team in his final two seasons at North Carolina and was a second team All-American in 2022.

Gray stands at 6-foot-2 and weighs in at 235 pounds.

Where did Cedric Gray go to college?

Gray attended North Carolina where he played for four seasons.

Gray played every game his freshman season, lining up at both linebacker and on special teams. By his sophomore season Gray had established himself as a starting linebacker, leading the team with 100 tackles.

Along with All-ACC first team honors, Gray was a semifinalist for the Butkus Award last season, which is given to college football's best linebacker.

Cedric Gray's stats, 40 time — pro day and combine

At the NFL Draft combine, Gray ran a 4.64 second 40-yard dash and had a 35.5-inch vertical jump. His broad jump was 10-feet and he completed 17 reps of the bench press. His 10-yard split was 1.59 seconds.

Last season at North Carolina, Gray led the team in tackles with 121, 64 of them solo, while posting five sacks, 11 tackles for loss and a team high two fumble recoveries. Gray recorded double-digit tackles in five different games and finished second in the ACC in tackles.

Gray has been one of the best linebackers in the ACC the last two seasons. In his junior year, Gray finished with 145 tackles and 82 solo tackles, each good for first among Power Five players.

His athleticism impressed at the combine and at North Carolina it helped him to provide consistent pressure on opposing quarterbacks. Gray registered a sack, hit or hurry in 11 of 12 games last season.

Cedric Gray's 247Sports Composite ranking

Originally from Fort Washington, Maryland, Gray moved to Charlotte at a young age and attended Ardrey Kell High School.

Gray was a four-star recruit coming out of high school as an athlete, playing on both ends of the ball at Ardrey Kell. He was the No. 16 player in North Carolina and the No. 38 athlete in the country in the 247Sports Composite.

ESPN ranked Gray as the 29th best player in North Carolina.

In three seasons at Ardrey Kell, Gray had 143 receptions for 2,467 yards and 27 touchdowns. In two seasons on defense he had 130 tackles, 4.5 sacks and 12 tackles for loss
