Meet the T&G Hometeam high school boys' skiing Super Team for winter 2023-24
The Central Mass. High School Sports Awards is proud to announce the player of the year nominees for boys' skiing. The winners will be announced during the live show on Wednesday, June 26, at the Hanover Theatre. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the show begins promptly at 7.
During the live show, athletes of the year in 31 sports will be honored. In addition, top teams, coaches and overall athletes will be honored as will a Courage Award winner. Nominated athletes who RSVP will receive a complimentary ticket to the event thanks to sponsors.

William Chiarelli
Westborough High
Chiarelli makes his second straight T&G Super Team appearance. He finished sixth in the Central Mass. Conference League individual standings, and went on to finish 76th in the giant slalom at the MIAA Alpine Championships at Wachusett Mountain. He is the son of Katie and Matt Chiarelli of Westborough.
Robbie Cotter
St. John’s High, Senior
Cotter capped his outstanding career with his third straight T&G Super Team selection. For the third consecutive season, Cotter finished in the top 10 in the Central Mass. Conference League. He helped the Pioneers to a second-place finish at the MIAA Alpine Championships at Wachusett Mountain and was a top-3 skier on his team for the second year in a row. Cotter was a team captain. His most memorable moments of the season were the Pioneers’ pre-race walk-up songs, which brought a fun aspect to the competition. Cotter was also a member of the golf team. He is undecided on his college choice, but he plans to study finance. He is the son of Sherri and Rob Cotter of Boylston.
Mihai Gavala
St. John’s High, Senior
Gavala finished seventh in the slalom at the MIAA Alpine Championships at Wachusett Mountain and helped the Pioneers to a runner-up performance in the team standings, which was his most memorable moment of the season. He was first in the Central Mass. Conference League individual standings. Gavala was a team captain. In the fall, he will attend the University of Colorado Boulder, where he will study mechanical engineering. He is the son of Cristina and Arctic Gavala of Sutton.
Aidan Ghidella
Shrewsbury High, Sophomore
Ghidella, the Colonials’ top racer, finished seventh in the Central Mass. Conference League. He was MVP of his team. At the MIAA Alpine Championships at Wachusett Mountain, Ghidella was 41st in the slalom and 42nd in the giant slalom. His most memorable moment of the year was Shrewsbury’s end-of-season “fun race,” when he and his teammates dressed in Hawaiian shirts and leis. Ghidella’s hobbies include bike riding, hiking and camping. He is the son of Jennifer Brown and Jason Ghidella of Shrewsbury.
Maddox Lee
St. John’s High, Junior
Lee had three top-three finishes in Central Mass. Conference League races this season and finished fourth overall. At the MIAA Alpine Championships at Wachusett Mountain, he was 15th in the giant slalom and 24th in the slalom. He helped the Pioneers to second-place finish in the team standings. Placing in the top three with teammates Mihai Gavala and Tommy Robinson in the first slalom race of the season was Lee’s most memorable moment of the year. He is also a member of the crew team at St. John’s. He is the son of Jeff and Jennifer Lee of Mendon.
Owen Ludden
St. John’s High, Junior
Ludden finished third in the Central Mass. Conference League and helped the Pioneers go 45-0 in league races. Ludden posted one first-place performance, four seconds and two thirds. At the MIAA Alpine Championships at Wachusett Mountain, Ludden finished 10th in the both the giant slalom and slalom and helped the Pioneers to a second-place performance in the team standings. Competing in the state event and celebrating with St. John’s seniors were Ludden’s most memorable moments of the season. His career goal is to be an airline pilot. He is the son of Alison and Anthony Ludden of Holden.
Cole Maddalone
Bromfield School, Sophomore
Maddalone finished fifth in the Mass Bay West Alpha League. He was a Mass Bay West All-Star. The Trojans finished ninth in the team standings at the MIAA Alpine Championships at Wachusett Mountain. Maddalone is also a member of Bromfield’s cross-country and track and field teams and competes in the 400, 800 relay, pole vault and javelin. He is the son of Jennifer and Drew Maddalone of Harvard.
Oscar Pride
Bromfield School, Senior
Pride is making his third straight T&G Super Team appearance. At the MIAA Alpine Championships at Wachusett Mountain, he was 22nd in the slalom and 60th in the giant slalom, and he helped lead Bromfield to a ninth-place finish in the team standings. Pride ranked second in the Mass Bay West League Alpha division. He is the son of Charlotte and Ethan Pride of Harvard.
Tommy Robinson
St. John’s High, Senior
Robinson capped his terrific career with his third straight T&G Super Team selection for skiing and fifth overall. He was a two-time cross-country Super Team honoree. This winter, Robinson, a two-year captain, finished fifth in the Central Mass. Conference League, and he went on to finish 15th in the giant slalom and 18th in the slalom at the MIAA Alpine Championship at Wachusett Mountain. He helped lead St. John’s to a second-place finish in the team standings. The Pioneers’ Senior Nigh race was Robinson’s most memorable moment of the season. In the fall, he will attend Dartmouth College. He is the son of Dave and Susie Robinson of Princeton.
Tai Sayarath
Lunenburg-Littleton-Leominster-Narragansett Regional Co-op, Eighth grade
Sayarath, who is a student at Narragansett Regional, was his team’s No. 1 racer and the only eighth-grader in the Mass Bay West Omega League. Sayarath had five top-six finishes, including a second-place performance in the second slalom race of the season. That ranked among his most memorable moments of the season. Sayarath ranked fifth in the league and earned all-star honors. At the MIAA Alpine Championships at Wachusett Mountain, Sayarath was 34th in the giant slalom. He I the son of Sommay and Lynn Sayarath of Templeton.
Nate White
Westborough High, Junior
White finished 11th in the Central Mass. League standings, and went on to finish 26th in the giant slalom at the MIAA Alpine Championships at Wachusett Mountain. Competing at the state race was his most memorable moment of the season. White’s hobbies include playing lacrosse and golf. He hopes to attend the University of Tennessee to study finance. He is the son of Bryan and Kelly White of Westborough.
Owen Wood
Bromfield School, Junior
Wood ranked sixth in the Mass Bay West Alpha League division. At the MIAA Alpine Championships at Wachusett Mountain, he was 33rd in the giant slalom and 50th in the slalom. He helped Bromfield to a ninth-place finish in the team standings. He is a former US men's national Telemark skiing champion and enjoys hiking, biking and golfing in his spare time.
