Meet the high school boys lacrosse players to watch this season

The boys lacrosse season will see some new stars emerge on the field.

All but one of the Holland Sentinel All-Area First-Team members have graduated, meaning it is time for a new wave of players to step up.

Here is a look at some of the returning players to watch:

Nick Zahn

SCHOOL: Holland Christian

GRADE: Junior

POSITION: Defense

LAST YEAR: Totaled 68 ground balls, 28 takaways and nine goals.

COACH'S VIEW: "Nick was always challenged with the opponents best offensive player and rose to the challenge each game. He led the team in takeaways and also was a great player in transition. He is a very high IQ player, plays with great positioning and is a fantastic team defender, always in the right spot for slides, hedges or double teams." - Micah Kool

GRADE: Senior

POSITION: Defense

LAST YEAR: 114 ground balls, 2 g 3 a (5 points) 48 take-aways. All-Conference Honorable Mention

COACH'S VIEW: "Tyler anchors the defense. Great one-on-one defender with the ability to stifle the opponent's best attackman. Fast and furious clearing the ball." - Rick Becker

Eli Armstrong

GRADE: Senior

POSITION: Midfield

LAST YEAR: Totaled 31 goals, 20 assists- 51 pts.

COACH'S VIEW: "Terrific shooter with great range." - Rick Becker

Kelden Alferink

SCHOOL: Holland Christian

GRADE: Junior

POSITION: Attack

LAST YEAR: 2023 all-conference. 31 goals, 5 assists, 23 ground balls

COACH'S VIEW: "Kelden was one of our leading scorers and was a great crease player for us. He has fantastic stick skills and is able to be creative to catch and shoot in tight spots or under pressure. He grew a lot as a dodger throughout the season and ended the year playing his best lacrosse. He was a huge part of what we did on offense, always put himself into the right spot and consistently made the correct play." - Micah Kool
