Here is a look at the Greater Lansing high school boys swimming and diving Dream Team and all-area selections as selected by area coaches.
SWIMMER OF THE YEAR
Dominic Rose
▶ School: DeWitt
▶ Year: Senior
▶ Accomplishments: Rose finished third in the 200 freestyle, fourth in the 100 freestyle and was part of 200 and 400 freestyle relays that finished eighth at the Division 3 state finals. At the CAAC Blue meet, Rose won the 100 freestyle and 200 freestyle and swam on champion 200 freestyle relay and was on the runner-up 400 freestyle relay
DIVER OF THE YEAR
JJ Van Dyke
▶ School: East Lansing
▶ Year: Senior
▶ Accomplishments: Van Dyke placed 15th in diving at the Division 2 state finals and was the CAAC Blue champion.
DREAM TEAM
Grayson Busch
▶ School: DeWitt
▶ Year: Sophomore
▶ Accomplishments: Busch was 17th in 500 freestyle, 18th in 100 backstroke and part of a 200 freestyle relay that placed eighth at the Division 3 state finals. At the CAAC Blue finals, Busch won the 100 backstroke, was the runner-up in the 500 freestyle and part of champion 200 medley relay
Kaleb Casler
▶ School: DeWitt
▶ Year: Senior
▶ Accomplishments: Casler took 12th in the 200 IM, 14th in the 100 butterfly and was part of 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle relays that finished eighth at the Division 3 state finals. At the CAAC Blue meet, Casler took second in the 200 IM, placed fourth in the 100 butterfly and was on champion 200 freestyle relay and runner-up 400 freestyle relay.
Evan Collins
▶ School: Mason
▶ Year: Senior
▶ Accomplishments: Collins finished 12th in 200 freestyle, 12th in 500 freestyle and swam leg on a 400 freestyle relay that was seventh and a 200 freestyle relay that placed 17th at the Division 3 state finals. At the CAAC Red meet, Collins was the runner-up in the 200 IM and 100 freestyle and was on championship 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays
Max Collins
▶ School: Mason
▶ Year: Senior
▶ Accomplishments: Collins finished 14th in the 200 freestyle, 18th in the 500 freestyle and swam a leg on a 400 freestyle relay that was seventh at the Division 3 state finals. At the CAAC Red championships, Collins won the 500 freestyle, placed second in the 200 freestyle and was part of the championship 400 freestyle relay team and on the runner-up 200 freestyle relay
Derin Cosguner
▶ School: Okemos
▶ Year: Senior
▶ Accomplishments: Cosguner finished 26th in the 100 breaststroke, 27th in the 200 IM and was on a 200 freestyle relay that finished third in Division 2. At the CAAC Blue championships, Cosguner won the 100 breaststroke, was fifth in the 200 IM swam on runner-up 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays
Brayden Hirschman
▶ School: St. Johns
▶ Year: Junior
▶ Accomplishments: Hirschman was 21st in the 500 freestyle and 26th in the 200 freestyle at the Division 3 state finals. At the CAAC Blue finals, Hirschman placed third the 500 freestyle and fourth in 200 freestyle.
Alex Huang
▶ School: Okemos
▶ Year: Senior
▶ Accomplishments: Huang placed fourth in the 100 butterfly, fourth in the 100 breaststroke and was part of a 200 freestyle relay that finished third and a 400 freestyle relay that took eighth at the Division 2 state finals. At the CAAC Blue meet, Huang won the 200 IM and 100 butterfly and swam on winning 400 freestyle relay and runner-up 200 medley relay
Derek Latimer
▶ School: Okemos
▶ Year: Senior
▶ Accomplishments: Latimer finished 13th in the 50 freestyle, 16th in the 100 freestyle and was part of a 200 freestyle relay that finished third and 400 freestyle relay that placed eighth in Division 2. At the CAAC Blue meet, Latimer won the 50 freestyle, was second in the 100 freestyle and was part of champion 400 freestyle relay and runner-up 200 freestyle relay.
Peter McKinney
▶ School: Holt
▶ Year: Senior
▶ Accomplishments: McKinney took 27th in the 500 freestyle and swam a leg on the Rams’ 200 freestyle relay that finished 24th at the Division 2 finals. McKinney was on 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle relays that finished third in the CAAC Blue.
Aiden Metzger
▶ School: Mason
▶ Year: Senior
▶ Accomplishments: Metzger placed 15th in the 100 breaststroke and swam a leg on a 200 medley relay that was 11th at Division 3 state finals. At the CAAC Red finals, Metzger was the 100 breaststroke runner-up and was part of champion 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays
Elijah Nevins
▶ School: Lansing Catholic
▶ Year: Senior
▶ Accomplishments: Nevins was eighth in the 100 backstroke and 12th in the 100 butterfly in Division 2 and the CAAC Red champion in the 200 IM and 100 backstroke.
Gryffin Porter
▶ School: Haslett
▶ Year: Senior
▶ Accomplishments: Porter placed fourth in diving at the Division 3 state finals. He also was the CAAC Red diving champion.
Owen Reed
▶ School: DeWitt
▶ Year: Senior
▶ Accomplishments: Reed was 11th in the 500 freestyle, 20th in the 200 freestyle and part of a 400 freestyle relay that finished eighth at the Division 3 state finals. At the CAAC Blue meet, Reed won the 500 freestyle, finished second in the 200 freestyle and was on runner-up 400 freestyle relay.
Carson Reynolds
▶ School: DeWitt
▶ Year: Sophomore
▶ Accomplishments: Reynolds was the Division 3 diving state runner-up and finished second in the CAAC Blue.
Vincent Rose
▶ School: DeWitt
▶ Year: Freshman
▶ Accomplishments: Rose finished 13th in the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke and was part of a 200 medley relay that placed eighth at the Division 3 state finals. At CAAC Blue finals, Rose was second in the 100 breaststroke, took third in the 200 IM and was part of champion 200 medley relay
Nick West
▶ School: Mason
▶ Year: Senior
▶ Accomplishments: West finished fourth in the 200 freestyle, fifth in the100 freestyle and was part of a 400 freestyle relay that took seventh and a 200 medley relay that was 11th at the Division 3 state finals. At the CAAC Red meet, West won the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly and was member of champion 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle relays
