Meet The Commercial Appeal's All-Metro girls basketball teams for 2024

Here is The Commercial Appeal's first, second and third All-Metro girls basketball teams for the 2023-24 season.

Carrington Jones

Bartlett | Senior

Guard

Why chosen: Jones, an Auburn University at Montgomery signee, averaged 11 points per game this season, including 19 points per game in three games during the TSSAA Class 4A state tournament, where Bartlett finished state runner-up for the second straight season.

Tyler Jones

Hutchison | Junior

Guard

Why chosen: Jones averaged over 16 points per game this season for the Sting, helping them reach the TSSAA Division II-AA quarterfinals.

Tierney Kelsey

Whitehaven | Senior

Guard

Why chosen: Kelsey, who transferred to Whitehaven this season from Arlington, finished the year averaging almost 21 points per game with Whitehaven.

Anna Lee Avery

Houston | Senior

Forward

Why chosen: Avery averaged 18 points per game this season with Houston. She was named to the District 15-4A first team and finished her career with 1,501 points.

Carlyn Burdette

Collierville | Senior

Forward

Why chosen: Burdette was the leading scorer for the Dragons, averaging over 17 points per game this season, helping them reach the sectional game.

Guard: Tristan Spearman, East, Sr.

Forward: McKenzie Percoski, Houston, Sr.

Third Team

Guard: Fran Kelly, Hernando, So.

Guard: Jairya Rankins, Center Hill, Sr.

Guard: Morgan Williams, Bartlett, Sr.

Forward: Allie Carroll, Lewisburg, Sr.

Forward: Allison Irby, Lewisburg, Sr.

Coach of the year

Wes Shappley

Bartlett

Shappley led the Panthers back to Murfreesboro and the TSSAA Class 4A girls basketball state tournament. They finished runner-up for the second straight season, losing to two-time defending state champion Bradley Central. Despite losing a loaded senior class in 2023 and playing a national schedule this season, Shappley helped Bartlett finish with a 30-11 record.
