Meet The Clarion-Ledger's Small Class all-state high school boys basketball teams for 2024

The Clarion-Ledger has put together its boys basketball Small Class all-state first and second teams for this season after the 2023-24 high school season has ended. The two teams are comprised of MHSAA and MAIS teams in Classes 1A-3A.

Here is who made the team.

First Team

Guards

Kameron Brown

Port Gibson | Senior

Why chosen: Brown averaged 23.5 points and 8.7 rebounds this season while helping take Port Gibson to the semifinals of the MHSAA Class 3A playoffs. Brown has drawn Division I and JUCO interest.

Matt Krass

St. Patrick | Senior

Why chosen: Krass averaged 28.9 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists this season after returning to St. Patrick from Gulfport. He led St. Patrick to a 23-8 record and into the fourth round of the MHSAA Class 3A playoffs.

Kedrick Simmons

Booneville | Junior

Why chosen: Simmons led Booneville to its third straight MHSAA Class 3A state championship. Simmons also won Class 3A Mr. Basketball while averaging 18 points and six rebounds this season. Simmons has offers from multiple Division I schools.

Stanford Spearman Jr.

Coffeeville | Junior

Why chosen: Spearman averaged an MHSAA-high 33 points this season while leading Coffeeville to a 16-10 record and winning the Mr. Basketball award for Class 1A.

Devonta Thompson

Bogue Chitto | Junior

Why chosen: Thompson took Bogue Chitto to the MHSAA Class 2A state championship game. Bogue Chitto finished the season 28-2 record. He averaged 22 points, six assists and six steals this season.

Forwards

Kaden Bolton

Perry Central | Senior

Why chosen: Bolton who averaged a double-double with 20 points and 14.5 rebounds this season.

Caleb Cunningham

Choctaw County | Junior

Why chosen: The junior forward averaged 18 points and 7.2 rebounds this season. He was a slam dunk highlight reel at times as well. Cunningham helped take Choctaw County to the quarterfinals of the MHSAA Class 3A state playoffs and ended the season with a 22-6 record.

Dalyn Pierce

Bay Springs | Junior

Why chosen: Pierce, the 6-foot-3, 220-pound forward who won MHSAA Class 2A Mr. Basketball, helped Bay Springs to a spot in the semifinals of the Class 2A playoffs and a 19-8 season.

Colby Terrell

Loyd Star | Senior

Why chosen: Terrell averaged 16.2 points and 9.1 this season, which helped lead Loyd Star to an 18-7 record, which was the most wins to end a season for the Hornets since 2019.

Centers

Latreyveon Lowe

Collins | Senior

Why chosen: Lowe averaged a double-double this season with 14.4 points, 10.3 rebounds and 2.1 blocks, helping Collins to a 15-10 record.

Dallas Pounds

New Site | Senior

Why chosen: Pounds averaged 23.3 points, 6.7 rebounds and 3.3 steals this season, helping New Site to the semifinals of the MHSAA Class 2A playoffs and a 24-8 record.

Second Team

Guard: Trezhonn Gunn, Biggersville, Sr.

Guard: Joseph Petty, Ingomar, So.

Guard: Ty Ramsey, Belmont, Sr.

Guard: Treylon Ricks, Leake County, So.
