Meat pile dumped on the side of the road in Washington County, Ohio. Here's what we know

Roadside fruit stands are one thing. Roadside meat piles are something else entirely.

Grandview Township Trustees in Washington Country said that a large amount of meat had been dumped along Grandview Hill Road, as reported by NBC4. The person responsible has not been found yet.

When did people find the roadside meat?

Captain Eric Hunter at the Washington County Sheriff’s Office told the Dispatch that the meat pile was first reported on May 10.

What kind of meat was it?

A variety of meat was found, including processed meat, Hunter said.

“Hot dogs, ribs, steaks, chicken—it was a conglomeration of what looked like something from somebody's freezer or refrigerator,” Hunter said.

It has been 12 days since the meat was found. Hunter said the case doesn’t contain much detail as it is still an open investigation.

How did it get removed?

Hunter said that the Grandview Township Trustees attempted to dispose of the meat, but animals started scouring it back out.

“To my understanding, they tried to kind of cover it up, bury it, then the animals obviously, of course, got back into it and started spreading it around everywhere.”

According to NBC4, Washington County Sheriff’s Office asks that if anyone has information regarding this incident to call them at 740-376-7070 ext. 0, or you may leave an anonymous tip at the link here.
