Mean Girls stars Lindsay Lohan, Amanda Seyfried and Lacey Chabert have reunited for a new Walmart ad.

Ahead of this year's Black Friday sales, the American retailer rolled out an ad featuring the actors in their roles from the 2004 film, now portraying the characters as adults.

While Rachel McAdams (who played Regina George) doesn't appear in the commercial, Lohan, Chabert and Seyfried are joined by fellow Mean Girls stars Daniel Franzese (who plays Damian) and Rajiv Surendra (who plays Kevin Gnapoor) to recreate the film's most iconic lines.

Lohan's Cady Heron — now the guidance counsellor at North Shore High School — narrates the advert, which opens with Chabert's Gretchen Wieners attempting to win over her teen daughter with the promise of huge savings.

"Get in, sweetie — we're going deal shopping," she says to the unimpressed teenager and her friends.

Elsewhere, Seyfried's Karen is working as a news reporter and Gretchen is still trying to make "fetch" happen.

Missy Elliott even makes a cameo as the gym teacher at North Shore. In the film, Elliott's song 'Pass That Dutch' plays over the scene where Damian and Janis Ian (played by Lizzy Caplan) explain to Cady who the Plastics are. And in the new Walmart ad, 'Pass That Dutch' plays over the opening sequence.

The advert isn't the only Mean Girls revival going on at the moment, with an upcoming musical version of the movie heading to London's West End in 2024.

Meanwhile, a movie adaptation of the Mean Girls Broadway stage show is also in the works, with a trailer recently airing during screenings of Taylor Swift's Eras Tour movie.

Written by Tina Fey, the movie stars Reneé Rapp, Angourie Rice, Auliʻi Cravalho, Jaquel Spivey, Bebe Wood, Avantika Vandanapu alongside The Office's Jenna Fischer, Busy Phillips and Mad Men's Jon Hamm.

For the new movie, Fey will reprise her role as maths teacher Ms Norbury from the 2004 film. Tim Meadows will also be back as Principal Duvall.

The original Mean Girls film can be streamed free for Prime Video subscribers. The movie version of the musical is due to be released on January 12, 2024.
